Yankee’s Gerrit Cole Is Officially a Dad as He and Wife Amy Welcome a Son

Just weeks before the MLB is predicted to start their season, pitcher for the Yankee’s Gerrit Cole welcomed a little one into his family. According to the Associated Press, Cole and his wife, Amy Cole, met their son for the first time on June 30.

Caden Gerrit Cole weighed in at 7 pounds, 13 ounces at birth and according to Cole, Caden “is a good mix of his dad and his mom. He’s absolutely adorable. He’s got big blue eyes and gosh, I just can’t stop staring at him.”

Cole shared a photo of his little one on Instagram several days after his birth.

As did Amy Cole.

“‘LOL Mom, you’re too much! Don’t make me wet another diaper!’ -Cade, probably,” the new mom joked along with the hashtag, “One week with my baby.”

On July 23, Cole and the Yankee’s are set to take on the reigning champs on July 23. It will be the first game of the 2020 season after it was postponed due to COVID-19.

“There is only going to be only one coronavirus World Series champion, and so that’s unique in and of itself. I don’t see why you wouldn’t want to take that trophy home, especially when you’re competing against your peers and there’s only going to be one of them.”

And when it comes to the health of the team, Cole believes the delay may have been good for the Yankees. As the pitcher shared many of his injured teammates used the extra time to heal to their advantage.

The couple, who has been married since 2016, first announced they were expecting on New Years Day. “2020: a year of new beginnings. New city, new team, and a new member of the family! Baby Cole is arriving in June and we are overjoyed,” Amy wrote on Instagram.

The announcement of a new member of the family came on the heals of Cole signing a record-setting $324 million, nine-year contract with the Yankees. It looks like Gerrit, Amy, and Cade have a lot to celebrate.
