On Thursday morning, rising NBA star, Zion Williamson, left the NBA bubble to attend to ‘urgent’ family medical matters. He is expected to return back the bubble soon, but could possibly miss some of the practice games.

David Griffin, the Pelicans executive vice president, said that “we fully support Zion’s decision to leave the NBA campus to be with his family.” While Zion had experienced leg cramps during practices earlier in the week, it appears that Zion’s exit of the bubble is purely due to this family matter.

Assuming that Zion’s exit is seven days or less, if he tests negative for the coronavirus each of the days he is absent, he will only have to quarantine for four days upon his arrival of the bubble. If however, he does not take the necessary testing, he will have to quarantine for 10 days.

In his 19 games with the Pelicans, Zion has averaged an astounding 23.6 points per game to go along with 6.8 rebounds per game. This elite level of production has surpassed even the highest expectations the incoming rookie had. He is undoubtedly a future star in this league.

If he comes back on time, Williamson will play against the Utah Jazz on July 30th on national television, competing for the coveted 8th seed in the Western Conference.
