Aaron Rodgers ‘Excited’ To Be A Jeopardy Guest Host

To start this off, let’s have you be a contestant. Pretend like you’re on a Jeopardy show and answer this question as the Packers Twitter summed this news up incredibly:

“This #Packers QB & former contestant on the show will be a guest host of Jeopardy”

Answer:

“Who is Aaron Rodgers?”

That’s correct!

Rodgers announced he’d be guest hosting the show on the Pat McAfee Show.

Jeopardy confirmed it the next day as Rodgers joins Katie Couric, Bill Whitaker, and Mayim Bialik who will all “take their turn as guest hosts of Jeopardy!”

And it’s for a good cause, as well, as “a donation will be made to a charity of their choice” according to Jeopardy. The show times and stations for these shows will be on your local listings and Jeopardy.com per a Jeopardy statement.

It may be a game show but for Rodgers, this means so much more.

“It is very exciting,” Rodgers said per ESPN. “It’s for the offseason. We’ll be even more excited when that opportunity gets a little closer, but, man, the show has been so special to me over the years…It’s been a staple at my house here in Green Bay for the last 16 years — 6 o’clock watching Alex [Trebek] and trying to get as many questions as I can.”

According to ESPN: “Trebek, the show’s longtime host, died of cancer at age 80 on Nov. 8”.

“Alex was a legend, revered by all of us,” Mike Richards, Jeopardy!’s executive producer, said in a statement. “I want to thank our guest hosts, who will not only help all of us celebrate his great legacy, but also bring their own touch to the show.”

You know who else looked up Trebek?

Who is the Green Bay Packers quarterback.

You guessed it.

“When the opportunity came up [for ‘Celebrity Jeopardy!’] in 2015, I mean that was a dream come true — it really was — to be on there,” Rodgers said per ESPN. “To get to meet Alex was just such a special moment, and we’re all obviously sad about his passing…There’s this nostalgic connection to certain figures in our life based on our childhood and where we were at and the times we had those memories, it almost makes these people feel like family, like you know them.”
