In July of 2022, the Ducks tight end passed away after hitting his head in a cliff-diving accident near Triangle Lake, Oregon at the age of 22. The Lane County Sheriff’s Office determined that no foul play was at hand and his death was in fact accidental.

“You were my everything, you gave me purpose, you showed me what it’s like to be cherished and valued and seen for me,” Kay wrote on Instagram following Webb’s passing. “I don’t know where to go from here but I know you’ll be watching over me keeping me strong. You always put everybody else before yourself and I’ll try to hold the same kindness in my heart.”

One month after his death, Kay went on to announce that she was pregnant with her boyfriend’s child. “We created an angel before heaven gained one,” she said at the time. “All you ever wanted was to be a father…I know you’ll be the best one from up above.”

“Can’t believe I have to do it without you but knowing I’ll have a piece of you keeps me going,” Kay continued. “I can’t wait to meet the person that’s half you, half me. I love you forever, both of you.”

Throughout the course of her pregnancy, the mother openly documented her pregnancy and the struggles she experienced while grieving Webb. “The strength from my son who has kept me alive the second half of the year. You can’t forget the good or the bad,” she stated, speaking of her 2022 experience.

In the photos she shared, she and baby Spider were in the hospital and wrapped up in a cozy University of Oregon blanket. She added photos of her son’s footprint, as well as Webb’s iconic No. 18 jersey.

“Thank you for carrying his legacy, and keeping his name alive,” one of Webb’s friends commented under the announcement post. “Congrats to you and my brother would love to meet baby boy one day.”
