The foundation aims to help:

Underserved Athletes

“The foundation provides funding and sports programming for underserved athletes to enable participation in school and/or league sports that enrich socio-emotional and physical development,” The Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation site says.

Young Women in Sports

“Kobe and Gigi’s vision was to create a world where young women had equal opportunity to pursue their dreams through sports and life. The foundation honors their legacy by funding programs that support their vision,” The Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation site says.

Vanessa Bryant recently posted on Instagram, highlighting an athlete that will be playing on The Mamba & Mambacita volleyball team:

“Help us cheer on @monaye_22 (Sareea Freeman) as she plays for @mambamambacitasports this volleyball season! #BeUnlimited#PlayGigisWay ❤️,” Bryant said.

“#PlayGigisWay ❤️,” Vanessa Bryant said.

Freeman talked about how when she was growing up, she looked up to Kobe.

“Losing him this past year brought a lot of things in perspective for me, just one how thankful I am that I was able to make it out of my situation and that I had someone help me,” Freeman said on the video Bryant posted. “And so I want to be able to help the foundation and help other people, kids that are in that same situation that I was in as a kid, have the opportunity to play and pursue their passion.”

Vanessa Bryant was recently featured as the cover story in this week’s edition of People Magazine’s “Women Changing the World issue” per People.

“I can’t say that I’m strong every day,” Bryant told People exclusively. “I can’t say that there aren’t days when I feel like I can’t survive to the next…This pain is unimaginable [but] you just have to get up and push forward…Lying in bed crying isn’t going to change the fact that my family will never be the same again. But getting out of bed and pushing forward is going to make the day better for my girls and for me. So that’s what I do…My girls help me smile through the pain…They give me strength…I want to make Kobe, Gigi, Natalia, Bianka and Capri proud.”

People states that Vanessa is “trying to focus on ‘finding the light in darkness'”.

“I guess the best way to describe it is that Kobe and Gigi motivate me to keep going,” Vanessa Bryant told People exclusively. “They inspire me to try harder and be better every day. Their love is unconditional and they motivate me in so many different ways.”
