In October 2022, WWE wrestler Sara Lee suddenly passed away at the age of 30, and the cause of death was never revealed. Now, months later, sources are saying there’s more to the story.
At the time of her death,h er mother, Terri Lee announced the news in a Facebook post. “It is with heavy hearts we wanted to share that our Sara Weston has gone to be with Jesus,” she wrote. “We are all in shock and arrangements are not complete. We ask that you respectfully let our family mourn. We all need prayers especially [Sara’s husband] Cory and her children.”
“WWE is saddened to learn of the passing of Sara Lee,” the organization went on to confirm in a statement. “WWE offers its heartfelt condolences to her family, friends and fans.”
Professional wrestler Wesley/Westin Blake (real name Cory Weston), husband to Lee, also expressed his grief in a heartbreaking letter published on Instagram. “I loved you from the first moment I saw you. I would always say that you were an angel walking on this earth. Beautiful, compassionate, strong and so loving. An angel that blessed me with 3 of the most beautiful children I could imagine. But you were soo much more than just mom,” he said of his late wife.
“You were a motivator, a best friend, a sister, a daughter, an aunt, the back bone of our family, and (my favorite), my wife,” Weston continued. “I really don’t know what to say in these uncertain times. I just know that death can’t take away the memories we made I can’t promise that I will stop grieving but I know now, that you’re free.”
He concluded with the sentiments, “I can’t thank you enough for giving me the best years of my life so far. I LOVE YOU SARA.”

While no cause of death was ever publicly revealed by the family, an insider close to the wrestler reporter to PEOPLE Magazine that alcohol was a likely contributed to her death.
Lee “was heavily drinking [the night she died]” and was found by her husband, according to the anonymous source. “He [Westin] had just come back from working in Orlando. He took the kids somewhere and came back and found her. It was sudden,” the source said. “It wasn’t intentional and it was accidental.”
