Zach LaVine is Eagerly Awaiting Juggling Fatherhood and the Upcoming 2022-2023 NBA Season

As NBA All-Star Zach LaVine prepares for one of the biggest seasons of his career, he is also preparing for what life will be like as a father on the court.

Last month, the star player signed an extension contract with the Chicago Bulls, earning him $215.2 million dollars in five years. However, alongside this exciting life development, he is expecting his first child by next month.

“It’s going to be a completely new experience for me,” LaVine explained when speaking to the media outlet PEOPLE. “I think I’ll be able to adjust, but you know, knowing that it’s going to be more about [the baby] and my wife, and obviously my job has its demands.”

Despite the very demanding atmosphere of being a father and a professional athlete, the Chicago Bulls player communicated that he is excited to take on the challenge.

“It’ll be fun to adjust the season,” he relayed. “Now, everything comes second and that’s what’s most important is making sure we start our family right, and making sure the baby’s healthy, my wife’s healthy, and getting everything on track, and then basketball.”

Zach LaVine admits he’s looking forward to coming home and being a dad after difficult days at work

With such a high-stakes season around the corner, LaVine shared that being a father is pushing him to look forward to the 2022-2023 season. He explained that even after a rough game or day, being able to “come home and be dad,” will make it all worthwhile.

Although this will be his first season with a maximum contract under his belt, LaVine still feels confident in his ability to juggle home life and his career. More specifically, he thinks that having a contract of this caliber will push him to be the best player he can be.

Continuing in his interview, he shared, “People really don’t have to worry about that side, ’cause I think for me, I have my own bucket list and checklists and things that I want to accomplish for myself. You know, I continue to go out there and play the way I am, have been, continue to, to try to lead the team to wins and get deeper and deeper into the playoffs.”

The upcoming NBA season is set to begin on Oct. 19 when LaVine will play for the first time as a father and a maximum contract holder.
