During Thursday’s Opening Day game, a Los Angeles Dodgers fan was body-slammed by security guards when he made his way onto the field to propose to his girlfriend.
While Los Angeles’ Opening Day victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks was surely exciting, it was hardly the most interesting part of the day. In the middle of the seventh inning of Thursday night’s game, a certain fan had big dreams that were quickly crushed by stadium workers…
Sporting a Mookie Betts jersey, khakis, and a Dodgers hat, the man identified as Ricardo Juarez was seen dropping to one knee and pulling out a ring in order to propose to his girlfriend. However, before he could pop the big question, security abruptly tackled him to the ground. Once taken down, he was handcuffed and escorted off the field.
The moment was caught on film and quickly made its round on social media. One sports journalist released the footage to Twitter and explained, “A fan ran onto the field at Dodger Stadium to propose only to get absolutely DEMOLISHED by a security guard… Baseball is so back.”
Following the intense tackle, many were left wondering what happened to the Dodgers fan. According to CBS News, he Juarez was brought to the stadium’s holding cell and released after the game.

“I think I was so shocked. I couldn’t believe it,” his girlfriend of three years, Stephani Gutierrez, said of seeing the whole proposal go down. “We were so close to the field he just thought it was so easy to just jump off and do it.”
She added, “He says he’s a little sore. He doesn’t care.”Thankfully, he was finally able to properly ask her the big question when he was released from the Dodgers’ holding cell.
“When we picked him up, he got on his knees again and he asked me and I said yes!” Gutierrez further explained, noting the real question was asked after the event. Taking to Instagram, Juarez went on to confirm in the caption of a post that Gutierrez is officially his fiancée. “She said YES,” he wrote.
Although Juarez was from attending games at the Dodgers Stadium for the next year and had the bruises to prove he was tackled by a large security guard, he said he wouldn’t have it any other way. In fact, he said he would do it again.
