Jaguars’ Owner, Shad Khan, Not Happy With Urban Meyer’s ‘Inexcusable Conduct’

Jaguars’ Owner, Shad Khan, Not Happy With Urban Meyer’s ‘Inexcusable Conduct’

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been one of the laughing stocks of the NFL the past few seasons and it’s only getting worse. Not only is the team 0-4 to start the 2021-22 season, but they now have to deal with the distractions caused by head coach Urban Meyer’s conduct.

Just one day after losing to the Cincinnati Bengals, a video on social media shows Urban Meyer sitting in a chair with his back to the bar while a woman grinds on him. Another video shows Meyer grabbing the butt of what appears to be the same woman — at least wearing the same clothes.

Not long after the video went viral, Jaguars’ owner Shad Khan wasn’t shy about his disgust over what happened. It’s something no NFL owner ever wants to see from a staff member, especially the head coach.

Here’s a look at what Khan said in a statement released on Tuesday morning:

“What I will say is his conduct last weekend was inexcusable. I appreciate Urban’s remorse, which I believe is sincere. Now, he must regain our trust and respect. That will require a personal commitment from Urban to everyone who supports, represents or plays for our team. I am confident he will deliver.”

Urban Meyer Addresses Team Before Practice:

This is not the type of attention a first-year head coach wants to bring to his team, especially a team that has yet to win a game. Not only that, but Urban Meyer is a married man that now has to explain to his wife what she saw in the video that’s now been viewed by millions of people.

In an attempt to win back the trust of his organization, including the players that play for him, Meyer addressed his team in a team meeting. He noted that there are two things he always cared about more than anything — his family and his players — and that he let both sides down.

Unfortunately, the meeting might have come too late. Some players inside the organization were a little put-off when Meyer canceled their meeting on Monday just to wait until Tuesday to apologize. They felt he might’ve been scared to address the team or trying to run away from it.

Where Do the Jaguars Go From Here?

The Jaguars have been trying to turn their franchise around for several years now, but it hasn’t been going as planned. There’s no doubt the ownership wants to win and they want to win now, but the players and coaches never seem to live up to those winning expectations.

Sitting at 0-4, the Jaguars have a difficult schedule ahead. They play the Tennessee Titans and Miami Dolphins before earning themselves a bye. Coming off the bye, they play the Seattle Seahawks and Buffalo Bills. To be honest, they might be 0-8 midway through the season.

For now, Urban Meyer has to earn back the trust of his team. If not, the bumpy road ahead will only get bumpier and he could very well be fired by the end of the season. If he can’t right this ship now, he might be better off finding a college campus to coach at for the future.
